Rey de Arena — King of Sand — a grey Andalucian stallion at the full stop, the arena erupting around him in the moment between motion and stillness.
The digital hand-painted work came first, in 2015/16, and served as the foundation for what became a six-week oil on canvas at 120×80cm — Rolf Stenberg’s most personally significant piece, still hanging in his own home. It was offered €10,000 on Artfinder three years ago. It wasn’t for sale then; however, for the right price it might be.
